The Galena Mining & Historical Museum was founded in the 80s in the small town of Galena, Kansas. When you first look at this building, you would easily mistake it for a small newspaper stand, and if you go inside you will see that it is actually ran by about 3-4 volunteers. However, inside it is full of rock and mineral samples that are found in the local mine called the “Grand Central Mine”. They also have lots of paintings from a local artist featured inside the museum. It is a stop along route 66 that you might miss if you are not looking closely, but once inside you will see why it was worth it stopping by!
