The Litchfield Museum and Route 66 Welcome Center is an old train depot that has now turned into a great museum. With unique displays that are always changing, you never know what you will get to learn about on your next stop there. There is a ton about the history of Litchfield, as well as a lot of other towns in Southern Illinois. There is tons you can learn about route 66 while exploring, and everyone who works there is a volunteer that is passionate about all these topics. They have a beautifully restored classic route 66 sign that is neon, and they even have a donation fund to help save other neon signs as well.
