Los Angeles, California

The Lummis Home is a beautiful stone home built from giant rocks of river stone. The outside of the house is a sight to see in itself, especially when you learn that it took over 13 years to build. On the inside, you can walk around yourself or go on a guided tour. There are artifacts that Lummis had collected himself, as well as tons of the books that he once owned. Take time to notice the inside walls, which are made of adobe and some feature beautiful carvings in the walls themselves. If you have to take a bathroom break, stop outside and see the beautifully painted outhouse. Definitely an interesting site to see, and one you won’t want to miss while traveling on route 66.
