Mickey Mantle was a baseball player with the Yankees who played from 1951- 1968. However, across the map from New York in Commerce, Oklahoma is his childhood home. A simple, white painted house on Quincy St. off Route 66, is where you will find is house. At the moment, the house is closed for renovation. You can still go by and check everything out. The owners are currently renovating it to look how it did when Mickey himself grew up in the house. Soon, you will be able to go inside and even tour the home. There will be memorabilia and treasures from Mickey Mantle’s childhood, as well as his baseball career. Just one more historic spot to see while traveling route 66.
