St. James, Missouri

The Vacuum Cleaner Museum is one of the more hidden spots to stop along Route 66, but definitely one you have to check out even if you do hate cleaning. When you first arrive, it will just seem like you are at an average store or business. However, once inside you get to see the entire history and creation of the vacuum cleaner. On top of that, you can observe vacuum cleaners from throughout the years to see how things have changed. The vacuum cleaners are organized in various rooms by year, which makes it easier to see the evolution of them. Also, they have a lot of signs on the walls including advertisements for the vacuum cleaners that will leave you laughing.
